Post Secondary Enrollment Options
State of Ohio Post Secondary Enrollment Option Program
The Post Secondary Enrollment Option Program has been established to permit high school students to earn college and high school graduation credit through the successful completion of college courses. The program is intended to provide expanded opportunities for appropriately qualified high school students to experience coursework at the college or university level. Any high school student admitted to a course by an institution will be expected to perform at the same level as the institution's regular students.
Notre Dame Academy supports qualified student participation in the PSEO program. The comprehensive curriculum at Notre Dame Academy will determine a students participation in PSEO coursework. It is important to keep in mind that the decision to participate in PSEO coursework does not compromise a student's Notre Dame Academy high school experience.
Enrollment Options:
This provides two opportunities for students and their parents:
Option A: Permits eligible students to enroll in college courses for college credit. Students electing this option will be required to pay all costs incurred, including tuition, books, materials, and fees. This coursework would not be reflected in the high school transcript.
Option B: Permits eligible students to enroll in college courses for both college and high school graduation credit. Students electing this option will not be required to pay for tuition, books, materials, or fees associated with such courses.
Notre Dame Academy Post Secondary Enrollment Option Policy
As stated in the rationale, the Post Secondary Program has been established to expand opportunities for students. Since the curriculum at NDA provides opportunities for many honors and AP classes, the following conditions have been set for students enrolling in the Post Secondary Program:
- The student is required to meet Notre Dame Academy's requirements for graduation (CF. page 1).
- The student's Notre Dame Academy class schedule and requirements must be given primary consideration in the scheduling of PSEO coursework. The student should try to schedule the college class(es) around class(es) at NDA and make every effort to be available for all NDA special schedules during the school year.
- Participation guidelines are established by each college/university. Generally, participation is limited to students with a minimum GPA of 3.2.
- PSEO coursework combined with Notre Dame Academy course work may not exceed a total of 7 units of credit per academic year.
- Courses taken at the college must be pre-approved by the student's counselor and the Principal at Notre Dame Academy, in addition to approval from the advisor at the participating college/university.
- Since Notre Dame Academy follows a block schedule, it is in the student's best interest to schedule PSEO course work after the regular school day.
- There will be no reduction in Notre Dame Academy tuition for students participating in the PSEO program.
- Students are not permitted to participate in college clubs or sports.
Students who meet the above post secondary criteria must apply to the post secondary institution by March 30 of the current school year. A letter of acceptance from the post secondary institution must be received by the student's counselor before any post secondary scheduling will take place. Interested students and their parents must make an appointment with their counselor and the Principal before completing the NDA registration to be considered for the PSEO Program.
