How is NDA affordable for my family?
Notre Dame Academy feels that every young woman with the academic ability should have the opportunity to receive an exceptional educational experience. Through our tuition assistance program, students who demonstrate financial need will have an opportunity for a quality education.
In 2009-10, approximately 60% of Notre Dame Academy families received some type of tuition assistance. The average award was $3,010. Families who receive tuition assistance ranged in income from less than $20,000 to over $95,000 based on family circumstances (medical expenses, multiple students in college and private schools, job loss, etc.) Tuition assistance is provided through non-repayable Notre Dame Tuition Grants, Need-Based Scholarship Awards, and Work/Study.
How do I apply?
All tuition assistance is calculated on demonstrated need and is strictly CONFIDENTIAL. To be considered, a family must go through the application process and it requires:
1. Submission of the NDA 2010-2011 Tuition Assistance & Scholarship Application
2. Filing the *FACTS Grant & Aid Assessment by mail or online.
*A $25.00 fee is charged by FACTS for processing the Grant & Aid application. FACTS is available on the Notre Dame Academy Admissions page. (January 8, 2010 is the preferred deadline date for the Class of 2014 for financial package information to be received in March 2010).
What is FACTS?
FACTS is an independent national family assessment firm used by most northwest Ohio private schools to assist in determining financial need. FACTS charges a $25.00 processing fee to complete the application online or by mail. The application takes approximately 15 minutes to complete online and requires a copy of your tax returns, or it can be filled in and mailed to FACTS.
How is tuition assistance determined?
Based on the recommendation of FACTS and the Notre Dame Academy Tuition Assistance Committee, financial aid is determined and granted in the form of Notre Dame Tuition Grants, Work/Study, and/or Scholarship Awards.
WORK STUDY PROGRAM
Student Work/Study gives a student the opportunity to help her family offset the cost of tuition. Generally, a student averages 60 hours of work per year. Earnings are applied directly to the student's tuition balance. They clean classrooms, do office work, answer phones, perform outdoor yard work, etc. To qualify for Work/Study, families must follow the tuition assistance process; most grants are contigent on completing work study hours.
NDA TUITION GRANT
For 2009-10 Notre Dame Academy distributed $1.2 million in tuition assistance. The majority of tuition assistance is distributed through non-repayable grants called Notre Dame Tuition Grants. The grants represent the school's commitment to continue the tradition of an exceptional experience through the Sisters of Notre Dame are based strictly on demonstrated financial need. Families must complete the 2010-2011 Tuition Assistance & Scholarship Application plus complete the FACTS Grant & Aid assessment.
THE TUITION ASSISTANCE PROGRAM (TAP)
This grant is offered to students attending NDA who apply for financial aid. Funds for this program are provided by the Diocese of Toledo and are based on the total number of students enrolled at NDA.
