| The service that we give to the community always falls into two categories: works of justice and works of charity. While there seems to be little difference between the two terms, there is a big difference. If we do a little bit of both we can make great strides towards the eradication of poverty.
Charity- works that meet the immediate needs of a person or the necessities of life but do not change the social structure of a community Justice- works that change oppressive social structures |

| The feet above represent the two parts to the eradication of poverty that the Catholic Church promotes. It also ties into the walk of faith that we are all called to participate in. The left foot is the works of mercy/charity, and the right foot is the works of justice. Both the works of mercy/charity and the works of justice are needed to eradicate poverty just as both feet are needed when we walk. | ||
