Reflections
This page is dedicated to stories and prayers on how one feels about the issue of poverty, how they have been helped, if CCHD has helped them out, and other feelings one may have about the things done to help poverty.
  • Recently, our class has taken on the task of creating web pages to help promote the empowerment of those in poverty. Before we started the websites, our teacher showed us videos and statistics and also had us do small art projects to truly understand the difficulty of living in poverty. She also wanted to help break the stereotype that all poor people are drunks or druggies. I have really learned and become aware about my surroundings and how lucky I am to have everything I have. Also, it has propelled me forward to start taking action and help out those in needs. I am planning on attending the Notre Dame Appalachia trip for my third year so that I can give a little back to those who really need it. People need to be told about what's going on around them, and I hope that this website can help that happen.

  • Dear Lord,
Poverty is not an issue that can be resolved over night. It takes time, dedication, and the use of many talents. Through CCHD's efforts as well as our own, please help the issue to be bettered and eradicated. In the meantime, Lord, please help people to view the impoverished as human beings with feelings and not as the usual stereotypes. Help us to remember that it is the little things that created differences and it is the big things that unite us.
    Amen.
