Career Week

Each year, Notre Dame plans an exciting and engaging Career Week for the students. The week commences with a theme and surprise “kick-off” video that inspires the students to reflect thoughtfully about their future. Then over 30 renowned professionals who represent various industries from throughout the Toledo area come and present specific criteria about their personal journey to professional advancement. They detail specifics about their daily duties and provide data about income potential and the occupational outlook for their field. Finally, visiting speakers provide valuable advice about the importance of perseverance, networking, follow through and other vital soft skills that will enable students to advance in the working world as authentic Women of Vision.

Career Week ends with interactive activities where students put what they have learned into practice. Activities are based on professional skills and are broken down by grade level:

Grade 9 – How to Build a Resume
Grade 10  – The Art of Writing a Cover Letter
Grade 11 – Interview Simulation
Grade 12 – Business Dining Etiquette and Networking Boot Camp

Senior Project

The Senior Project is the capstone project that provides NDA students the opportunity to shadow 1 to 3 careers of their choice for a total of 25 hours.  Seniors complete research and secure the scheduling of the location, dates and times for the shadowing experience.  Shadow site sponsors complete a contract and evaluation of the student’s performance. Students reflect upon their experiences and complete a journal documenting their participation and share the finished product with their fellow students in dynamic groupings.  All seniors (except full diploma IB students) are required to complete a Senior Project as part of their high school graduation requirement at NDA. The Senior Project generally is completed in the second week of May; although, some students complete the project as early as the summer of their junior year.
