This is a reminder for all of Mrs. Morgan’s World History students. Gold World History Classes, for your history class periods on Monday, please report directly to Fitz Commons for the special presentation.  Honors World History periods Blue 1 and Blue 3, you are attending as well. Mrs. Morgan’s Blue 1 should report to Fitz Commons during Gold 1 for the presentation and Blue 3 will report during Gold 3.

The JV A tennis team was once again victorious against the Lady Irish of Central Catholic, beating them 4-1! The team remains UNDEFEATED!

The Varsity Golf Team had a great showing at the NWOGGL Tournament Championship held at Maumee Bay.

The team finished as Runner-Ups to the defending Division II State Champions. Every girl placed on the All-Tournament Team, with 12 schools competing.

1st Team was Alex Simpson 84 (T-4), Grace Foor 84 (T-4), and Kristina Sim 85 (6th).

2nd Team was Caroline Connelly 90 (T-8), Paige Reece 93 (11th), and Grace Sanford 94 (12th).

Great job, girls!

Today and Saturday, our varsity and JV soccer teams play two games at the Zionsville Lady Eagle Invitational in Indiana.

On Saturday, our freshmen volleyball team hosts a tri match starting at 10 am, our JV volleyball team is at the Norwalk Invite, our varsity tennis team hosts North Canton Hoover at Twos Athletic Club, and our high school and JA cross country teams run at the Tiffin Cross Country Carnival.

On Sunday, our Equestrian team has its first competition of the season at the Wood Country Fairgrounds at 9 am and our JA volleyball teams have their first matches of the season this weekend.  Go Eagles!

Sports

The varsity golf team stayed undefeated in 9-hole matches at Maumee Bay by beating SUA 165-168. This is a season low for the squad.

Leading the way, Alex Simpson 39, Grace Foor 41, Caroline Connelly 41 (career low), Kristina Sim 44, Paige Reece 46, and Grace Sanford 47. Awesome job, girls!

The JV golf team claimed another victory last night in its league match at Bedford Hills Golf Club with a winning score of 197. The low 4 scores for the Eagles were Lizzie Axe 47, Lauren Boyd 47 both were co-medalist in the event. Marla Shern shot 51 and Claire Symkowiak and Emily Dansack tied with 52.  Great job, girls!

The JV soccer team tied Findlay 1-1 last night. Sophomore Maddi Kristof scored in the first half.

The varsity soccer team lost 0-1.

Congratulations to all three NDA volleyball teams as each defeated the Trojans of Findlay High School! The freshmen and JV won in exciting 3-set matches, and varsity won in three straight matches. Nice job, girls!

Congratulations to the JV volleyball team for defeating the Findlay High School Trojans two sets to one last night! After dropping a tough first set, the Eagles battled back and won the next two! Well done, girls!

Congratulations to our freshmen volleyball team on defeating Findlay yesterday 2-1!

The JV A tennis team was victorious yesterday at Bowling Green High School with a score of   5-0. The team is undefeated! Next up is Central Catholic on Thursday. LET’S GO, EAGLES!

Attention all Fall Athletes form Cross Country, Golf, Soccer, Tennis, Volleyball and Rowing…the first week of athletic eligibility begins today. Please check your PowerSchool site to see if you have a message indicating if you are failing a class or not. If you would like to visit France, the French trip to Annecy, including attending school at St. Michel, takes place from Nov. 20 to Dec 1. For 12 days you will experience life with a host family, attend school, and take small side trips to learn more about French culture.

See Ms. Joseph for details; there is a sign-up sheet on her door if you are interested.

You will need the following to go:

–a good standing with grades because you will miss up to 5 days of school and you are responsible for work missed

–an understanding that you will miss Thanksgiving

–and a valid passport

Are you passionate about environmental issues like the ongoing fires in the Amazon or Climate Change?  Would you like to learn more about what you can do to help build a sustainable future?  Grab your lunch and go to room 210 this Friday where Environmental Club will be discussing the environmental topics you’re interested in and strategies you can take to decrease your environmental footprint.

Today is the first Film Studies Club meeting at lunch in room 309 — bring your packed lunch and permission slip to watch “The Orphanage”!

Pep Club Moderator Mrs. Edgell asks the golf team captain to meet her in the gym during Flex today. Also, any fall team captain that has questions about the pep rally video, see Mrs. Edgell or one of the Pep Club Captains.

The first Archery Club Meeting of the Year will be Tuesday, Sept. 10 after school from 3:05 -4:05.  Mrs. Edgell welcomes back all members from last year and encourages anyone who would like to join to meet in the gym on the 10th. We will be going outside to shoot that day. You do not need your own equipment, it will be provided. Please see Mrs. Edgell during Flex in the gym if you have any questions.

The varsity golf team continued its dominance in the NWOGGL. They finished first out of 5 teams with a 171. Scores included:

Kristina Sim 40 (Medalist), Alex Simpson 43, Paige Reece 43, and Caroline Connelly 45.

The JV golf team competed in the NWOGGL League match last night at Cottonwood and came in first place with a team score of 172. The four scores that counted for the Eagles were Marla Shern 41 (Event Medalist), Timber Wyse 43, Emily Dansack 44, and Lauren Boyd 44.  The team will compete in another match Wednesday evening at Bedford Hills Golf Club.

The varsity tennis team is 4-0 in the TRAC with its convincing win over Findlay. The Eagles won all 5 positions against the Trojans. The second doubles team of Gretchen Gmitter and Erin Sturgeon are undefeated for the season at 17-0!

From AVI: If you are charging a lunch, you MUST have your ID card. Beginning this week, you will NOT be able to get a lunch on a charge if you do not have your card. This will speed up the service line.

Speech Team

Are you interested in Speech and Debate team? If you love to act, then go to Ms. Hunter’s room 103 during lunch on Wednesday to learn about the acting categories of Speech and Debate team. If you love to write, then go to Ms. Hunter’s room 103 during lunch on Thursday to learn more about the categories of Speech and Debate team in which you get to use your own writing.

Sports

The varsity golf team competed in the LCC Invitational in Lima on Saturday. The team shot 345 for a 4th place finish. This is the lowest score NDA has ever had at this course.

Scoring was Alex Simpson 83, Grace Foor 85, Grace Sanford with a career low 86, and Caroline Connelly 91. Congratulations, girls!

The JV A tennis team swept the Arrows of St. Ursula 5-0 on Thursday on their home courts! Special congratulations to juniors Ellen Shern and Amanda Deku for coming back from a set down to win in a thrilling tiebreaker!

There will be a brief meeting today at the beginning of Flex in the Resource Center for anyone interested in trying out for basketball that is not in a fall sport.

Clubs

We are looking into having a dance team. If you have experience as a dancer and would be interested in being a member of a dance team, please sign up in the main office by Friday, September 6, 2018.

Sports

The varsity soccer team opened TRAC play last night with a 1-1 tie. After falling behind, freshman Julia Nester scored a great goal off a pass from sophomore Iliana Calcamuggio.

The Varsity Golf Team won its NWOGGL match at Maumee Bay versus 3 other schools by 65 strokes. The ridiculous winds were brutal, but the ladies battled through it excellently. We had the top 6 scores. Alex Simpson 41 (Medalist), Grace Foor 44, Grace Sanford 45, Caroline Connelly 45, Kristina Sim 46, and Paige Reece 46. Congratulations, girls!

The JV golf team competed in its match at Whiteford Valley on Wednesday. The Eagles came out with another victory with a team score of 196. Scoring for the Eagles were Claire Szymkowiak with a 44 and event medalist honors, Lauren Boyd with a 50, Lizzie Axe 51 and Timber Wyse 51 to round out the four scores the team needed.

Congrats to all three NDA volleyball teams as they swept the Panthers of Whitmer in straight sets in last night’s contests! Good luck to the Eagles next week as they face the Findlay Trojans!

Congratulations to the JV volleyball team for defeating Whitmer two sets to zero last night! Great volleyball played by each of them! Well done, girls!

Congratulations to the varsity tennis team on its impressive 5-0 win over Ottawa Hills! The Eagles are now 9-0 on the season. Senior captains Tierney Sturgeon and Olivia Assenmacher played together for first time and dominated a good Green Bears team 6-1,6-1.

The JV B tennis team battled St Ursula yesterday, but lost 2-3. Madi Bell won an intense singles match, while Lanie Houck and Kate Kudlac came away with a doubles win.

On Saturday, our varsity golf team competes in the LCC Lady Thunderbird Invitational at Lost Creek Country Club in Lima at 9 am, our varsity soccer team plays Gilmour Academy at Sports Force Parks in Sandusky at 10:30 am, and our high school and junior academy cross country teams compete in the Mel Brodt High School Invitational at BGSU.  The high school runs at 9:30 am, followed by the JA at 11 am.  Go Eagles!

Club News

Film Studies Club will have its first meeting next Wednesday, September 4, in room 309 at lunch.  The first quarter’s genre is horror, and they will be watching THE ORPHANAGE, directed by Guillermo del Toro.  If you’d like to join them, please pick up a permission slip and bring it signed with you to the first meeting.

The Quiz Bowl Team has its first meeting of the year at lunch today in Room 105. All high school students are invited to come learn about the fun you can have competing against other area schools. No previous Quiz Bowl experience is necessary!

Sports

The varsity tennis team defeated rival and state ranked Central Catholic 3-2. This was an outstanding match between the top two teams in Northwest Ohio. Freshman Lilly Black secured the team win with her win at one singles over a 3-time player of the year in the TRAC! Congrats to the entire varsity squad!

The JV B tennis team improved to 3-0 yesterday by beating Start 3-1. Dominating play by Lannie Houck and Rachel Moeller helped secure the win. Singles players Madi Bell and Corinne Heban both played impressive matches as well!

The varsity tennis team had a very successful trip to Columbus! On Friday they defeated Watterson 4-1, and on Saturday they won the Eagle Invite by winning 4 of 5 flights! They are more than ready to take on rival CCHS Tuesday and they want to see lots of students at the match!

Attention Drivers: All parking passes are ready for pick up. Be sure to stop in the Main Office to pick up your pass before you leave today!  Parking violations will start on Monday. If you have not registered your vehicle, you will need to bring it with you the next time you drive. Sports

In a packed gym, the Eagles faced the Yellow Jackets of Perrysburg last night in three exciting volleyball matches. Freshmen lost in two, JV won in two, and Varsity came up short in four. Nice job, girls and thanks to all the fans for your loud cheers!

Congratulations to the JV volleyball team for defeating Perrysburg two sets to zero last night! Exciting volleyball! Well done, ladies!

The varsity tennis team moved to 2-0 in the league with its shutout of Clay. For the second straight match Lilly, Ellie and Liv combined to lose zero games. The doubles teams of Tierney Sturgeon with Megan Ohlinger, Erin Sturgeon with Gretchen Gmitter, and Kathryn Riddle with Halle Rindler also earned decisive victories to complete the sweep.

The JV A tennis team defeated Anthony Wayne 5-0! Next up for the Eagles is Central Catholic on Monday!

Thank you to all of our students that came out to the volleyball games last night to cheer on our Eagles! It was a great atmosphere!

Today, our varsity tennis team heads to Columbus to play Bishop Watterson and tomorrow they play in the Bishop Watterson Eagle Invite.

On Saturday, our varsity and JV soccer teams head to Cleveland to play Magnificat, our cross-country team competes in its first meet of the season at the Seneca East Tiger Classic, and our freshmen, JV, and varsity volleyball teams host Padua Franciscan with the freshmen starting at 11 am followed by the JV and varsity.

Pep Club reminds you the volleyball teams take on Perrysburg tonight at NDA, and it’s a black out. Be there to support our teams! The freshman game is at 4:30, followed by the JV and varsity.

Sports

Congratulations to the varsity tennis team on its 5-0 shutout of rival Perrysburg. The Eagles dominated, winning 60 games and losing only 2! Earning singles victories for the Eagles were junior Olivia Assenmacher and freshmen Lilly Black and Ellie Assenmacher!

On Friday, Campus Ministry will be hosting Fellowship Friday during Flex Time in the Campus Ministry Office. Come enjoy a snack and color to celebrate making through the first full week of school!

From the Main Office

All parking passes are available for pick up.  Written parking violations will be starting on Monday so be sure to pick up your pass before then and get it displayed in your vehicle.  All vehicles must be registered. If a parking permit is not purchased, students who drive must still register their vehicles, pay $1 a day, and sign in at the main office each day they drive.

Speech Team

Anyone interested in Speech & Debate–either finding out about our upcoming season or finding out what it is all about–lunch on stage today–get your lunch bring it to the PAC stage and join the fun!

Both the Junior Varsity A and B teams were victorious today in their matches vs. Perrysburg. Each team won 5-0!

What’s cooking at NDA?

Students, please take note:

Mrs. Holtz reminds students that after school, you should be in Lobby D, the Dining Commons, Sister Carol Hall, or the Resource Center. You cannot sit outside Fitz Commons after school.

Also, seniors, your parking passes are ready for pick up. Only Senior passes are ready today. An announcement will be made when all other passes are available.

Art Department

Mrs. Mettler and Mrs. Kozal invite last year’s arts students from Art I to pick up their mixed media sculpture and take them home from the main display case or the art studios this week.

Sports

The varsity tennis team opened league play with a 5-0 shutout over Whitmer. The Eagles dropped zero games to the Panthers. Captaining this year’s squad are senior Tierney Sturgeon and junior Liv Assenmacher.

The JV Golf team finished 3rd at the Lexington Invitational at Oak Tree Golf Club on Monday with a team score of 412, beating their goal of 420 by 8 strokes.  Each player was sure to keep the virtue of perseverance in sight as they were able to accomplish the team goals and finish with a strong showing on a very difficult golf course.

What’s cooking at NDA? Walking Taco and Jell-O Poke Cake

From Mrs. Sanders

There will be a lunch meeting Wednesday in the PAC for any high school girl interested in joining Speech team for the 2019-2020 season. Bring your lunch to the stage for information on speech and debate and the coming season. This is for those who have done speech and debate before and those who are brand new and looking for information.

Your family should have received an email about an opportunity to see COME FROM AWAY at the Wharton Center on September 14. Our group will take a charter bus leaving at about 9 am, tour the beautiful Broad Museum, and then buy lunch at your choice of many restaurants nearby. The show is at 2 pm, and we will head home after. Tickets are $55 for students and $75 for adults. See Mrs. Sanders if you have any questions!

The varsity soccer team kicked off its 2019 with a 1-0 win vs. Perrysburg. Senior Aishlin Armstrong scored the lone goal in the first half off an assist from fellow senior Rachel Spencer.

Senior goalie Katie Wisniewski, along with a great team defensive effort, kept the shutout for the win.

The JV soccer team lost to Perrysburg 1-5. Maddi Kristof scored the goal.

The JV A Tennis Team competed in Cincinnati over the weekend and beat Perry Varsity 3-2 in a thrilling match!  They came up short against varsity Wilmington team 2-3.

Good luck to our JV golf team today at the Lexington Invitational at Oak Tree Golf Club and good luck to our varsity tennis team as they start off TRAC play by hosting Whitmer at Twos Athletic Club at 4:30 pm.  Go Eagles!

Your family should have received an email yesterday about an opportunity to see COME FROM AWAY at the Wharton Center on September 14. Our group will take a charter bus leaving at about 9 am, tour the beautiful Broad Museum, and then buy lunch at your choice of many restaurants nearby. The show is at 2 pm, and we will head home after. Tickets are $55 for students and $75 for adults. See Mrs. Sanders if you have any questions!

Good luck to all of our sports teams in action this weekend.

Today, our varsity soccer team plays Perrysburg in an OHSAA Friday Night FUTBOL game at St. Francis de Sales High School! The game starts at 6 pm and all NDA 7th through 12th grade students, faculty, and staff get in for free.  Admission for other spectators is $7 for adults and $5 for students and senior citizens.  Our game is followed by the SFS varsity boys vs. Perrysburg. Start off the new school year by cheering on our NDA varsity soccer team today at St. Francis!

Today and tomorrow, our JV A tennis team play in the Western & Southern Open High School Showcase at the Lindner Family Tennis Center in Mason.  They play Perry High School today and Wilmington High School on Saturday.

On Saturday the varsity, JV, and freshmen volleyball teams open their seasons at Magnificat High School, and our cross country program competes in the OHSAA Early Season Cross Country Invite at National Trail Raceway.  Also, our JV soccer team hosts Perrysburg on Saturday at 12 pm.  Go Eagles!

Stage Crew

There will be an information meeting Friday during student flex time in the PAC for anyone interested in joining stage crew for this year’s musical, Fiddler on the Roof. If you have any questions, email Mrs. Walker or see her in room 106.

Attention all high school students NOT enrolled in History, Government, Psychology, Sociology, Global Issues or  Women’s Studies class first semester.  You must turn in your summer reading worksheet to Mrs. Huffman in room 302 before you leave school Friday.  Make sure that your name is on it before you put it in the box on the round table.  Any questions, see Mrs. Huffman.

Congrats to the varsity tennis team on their 3-0 start and for winning the Springfield doubles invite. Playing for the eagles this year are seniors Tierney Sturgeon, Megan Ohlinger and Kathryn Riddle, Juniors Olivia Assenmacher, Halle Rindler and Gretchen Gmitter, sophomore Erin Sturgeon and freshmen Lilly Black and Ellie Assenmacher.

Varsity Results from Eagles Landing NDA 178 – CLA 188.  Alex Simpson 39 (Medalist), Kristina Sim 43, Grace Foor 44, Paige Reece 50, Grace Sanford 50, and Caroline Connelly 51.

The JV Golf team finished 1st at the NWOGGL match last night at Quarry Ridge with a team score of 184

Lauren Boyd 47, Lizzie Axe 43 co-medalist. Natalie Suwinski 61 and Jordan Nichols 58.  This is the JV Golf teams 3rd straight victory!
