Allison loves hot weather! One of her nicknames is “Hotlanta.” She and her husband moved to Atlanta when their first born was only 3 months old and she loved the “brick melting heat.”
Favorite activity outside NDA: Yoga, hiking, and swimming
Favorite place she’s visited in the United States: Leadville, Co
Favorite experience while at student at NDA: Kairos-Live the 4th!!
Qualities your favorite teacher possessed: I have several favorite teachers! All of whom share the same influential qualities- a positive sense of humor, kindness/grace, a higher belief and expectation for me than I held in myself when I was younger.

Favorite moment at NDA: I love seeing all the creative costumes people wear at Halloween and during Spirit Week.  One year, I dressed up as a toaster.  I was pretty pleased with myself.

Qualities your favorite teacher possessed:My favorite teacher was passionate about his subject AND great at communicating complicated ideas to his students.  That is a rare combination. He also valued and rewarded risky ideas, which is essential for real academic growth.

Favorite activity outside NDA: I love baking, crafting, and talking about social issues.  I love those things even more when I can convince my family to do them with me!

Favorite place in northwest Ohio:The Toledo Zoo, eating soft serve ice cream with sprinkles while we watch the giraffes.

My goal as a teacher is to help my students learn to think independently, communicate effectively, and consume media critically.  Literature, fiction and non-fiction, is a great vehicle for learning these skills.

Favorite saint and why:
St. Isidore of Seville for being the Patron Saint of Computers and the Internet.  Many times, we are swamped and overwhelmed by scientific and technological advances and can lose much of our understanding love for one another. St. Isidore reminds us of this, and I try to pray for his intervention often!  Also, I help oversee the IT department at NDA, and so prayers to him can only help if an issue arises:)

Favorite moment at NDA:
Graduation of both the 8th grade class and senior class each year!
Qualities your favorite teacher possessed:
My favorite teacher (3rd grade teacher Ms. Pilzecker) challenged me to try my best even when it was not easy.  She also helped me think and reflect about how I need to treat others. She was my inspiration for becoming a teacher.  Love her!  Thanks, Ms. Pilzecker.
Favorite activity outside NDA:
Eating dinner with my family: husband, Michael and children: Zoe, Joseph, and Andrew
Favorite place in northwest Ohio:
Toledo Zoo and any of the Metroparks in the area
My advice to a student at NDA would be to find something to be involved with at NDA.  I am an alum of NDA, and my one regret is that I did not try out for our musicals when I knew singing was something I loved to do. There are so many varied clubs, sports, theatre opportunities, etc. here, that every student should find something of interest.  Four years will go by very quickly!
