ATHLETES OF THE WEEK!
First up is rower and junior Lily Bunker. Lily rows stern pair in the junior and varsity 8 boats. Lily has helped lead both boats to multiple medals this season and she strives for success at every opportunity, whether on or off the water. According to Head Varsity Head Rowing Coach Anna Muller: “With tremendous “zeal,” Lily accomplished her impressive goal last week of a sub-8 minutes on a 2000-meter erg test. At the end of practices, Lily will ask how she can improve and she continues to push herself to run fast and pull hard.”
Next up is varsity track and field athlete and junior Tori Miller. At the Nancy Erme Memorial Relays, Tori broke the NDA record in the triple jump with a jump of 33 feet, seven and a half inches. According to Head Varsity Track and Field Coach Ray Strassner: “In addition to being a top long jumper and triple jumper, Tori runs for us in the the 200 and 400 and 800 relays wherever we need her. Tori is one of the hardest working athletes in our program.”
Next up is varsity track and field athlete and senior Emily Vining. At the Troy Invitational, Emily broke the NDA record in the steeplechase, a record she had set last year, with a time of seven minutes and twenty-three-point-five seconds. At the Nancy Erme Relays Emily ran and won the 1600 meter run in a great time of 5 minutes, 16 seconds. According to Head Varsity Track and Field Coach Ray Strassner: “In addition to competing in the steeple chase and 1600 meter run, Emily also often competes in the 300 hurdles and several relays for NDA. Emily is a determined athlete who never gives up in a race.”
Congratulations to Lily Bunker, Tori Miller, and Emily Vining as this week’s Athletes of the Week!
