Congratulations to senior Kathryn Roth who placed third in Division I of the Toledo Bar Association’s 2019 Caty Armstrong Memorial Law Day Essay Contest. Kathryn is in NDA’s International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Program where she is earning IB certificates in history and French. She is captain of NDA’s varsity golf team, president of the French Club, a student ambassador, and vice-president of the Current Events Club. Due to her character and scholarship, she was awarded the Toledo Junior Golf Association’s Paul Szymanski Spirit Award. The Toledo Bar Association holds this annual essay contest in conjunction with Law Day. Students in grades 7-12 are invited to compete. Competitors are asked to address questions about free speech and freedom of the press. Eighth grader Hannah Bunker also won 3rd place for her essays on the importance of a free press and free speech.
