Retiring NDA employees and alumnae, Pam (Niedermeier) Edgell '73 and Diane (Comes) Clark '75, were recognized for their service to Notre Dame Academy and interscholastic athletics at the Ohio High School Athletic Association's Athletic Discussion meeting held in Tiffin on Tuesday, April 30th.
Both athletic directors were recognized for their outstanding contributions to the school’s athletic program and interscholastic athletics as a whole. Edgell was inducted into the Northwest Ohio Interscholastic Athletic Administrators Association Hall of Fame with Clark receiving the Northwest District Athletic Board's “Mac” Morrison Lifetime Service Award. Edgell started NDA's athletic program in 1977 and spent 33 years as our school's athletic director until 2010. Clark has spent the past 33 years as NDA's assistant athletic director.
Notre Dame Academy’s Athletic Director, Gary Snyder, shared, “Both of these women are huge proponents of education-based athletics and of Notre Dame Academy. They have dedicated their lives to NDA, our students, and NDA Athletics and embody what it means to be a servant leader. Their legacy will continue to inspire future generations of student-athletes for years to come.” Snyder adds, “While I wish them both all the best with their pending retirements, they will be deeply missed by everyone at NDA.”
To celebrate their remarkable achievements, Notre Dame Academy will host an ice cream social on the school’s campus on Sunday, June 2 from 1:00 pm – 3:00 pm. where community members, friends, and colleagues will have the opportunity to express their appreciation and honor their legacies.

Pam Edgell began her teaching career at Notre Dame Academy following her graduation from the University of Toledo in 1977. When NDA entered the Toledo Athletic League for the 1977/1978 school year, Pam was tapped to build the athletic program and later served as the school’s first athletic director. Under Pam’s guidance, Notre Dame Academy entered Toledo City League play with 2 sports - Varsity Tennis and Track. During her time as Athletic Director, the athletics program grew to 12 Varsity teams, 11 Junior Varsity Teams, 2 Freshman teams and 3 Club Teams. NDA teams won 44 Varsity Toledo City League Championships and numerous other league championships. Notre Dame won the prestigious City League All Sports Award 14 times - including Pam's last 7 consecutive years as AD. Pam was the Athletic Director at Notre Dame Academy for 33 years, retiring from the AD position in 2010.
In addition to Pam’s success with athletics, she has been a moderator for Link Crew Leaders, Pep Club, and the Archery Club. In addition, Pam was the tennis tournament coordinator through most of the Three Rivers Athletic Conference. She was inducted into Notre Dame Academy’s Alumnae Hall of Fame in 2007 and the Toledo City League Hall of Fame in 2010. In 2015 Pam Edgell received the “Mac” Morrison Lifetime Service Award from the Northwest District Athletic Board. Pam will be retiring from Notre Dame Academy after this school year making 46 years as a Health and Physical Education teacher.

Diane Clark is a graduate of NDA’s Class of 1975 and holds a Bachelor’s degree in Education from the University of Toledo. The first part of her career found her teaching in the elementary school setting – but returned to her alma mater in 1991 to begin her 33-year tenure as Assistant Athletic Director. During her time at NDA, she has supported thousands of student-athletes and their families and has helped NDA maintain excellence and competitiveness in interscholastic athletics. Diane is an invaluable resource to the school’s athletic department and helped guide NDA's transition from the Toledo City Athletic League to the Three Rivers Athletic Conference - and, most recently, the Catholic high School League. NDA's sports teams made many regional and state tournament runs under her leadership. Diane previously served as the school’s Pep Club moderator and is well-known for her surprise sweets for student-athletes. In addition to her AD responsibilities, she also serves as NDA's testing coordinator and sports camps coordinator.
