Notre Dame Academy has long been known as northwest Ohio’s leading school for the education of young women.
Students come to NDA because they want to be around others who value striving academically as much as they do.

While our students take eight classes in the block schedule, this allows them to dive into a broader range of subjects. Our schedule fosters a more well-rounded education and enables them space to explore their interests in elective classes beyond core curriculum requirements.
At Notre Dame Academy, our students have a mid-morning break known as flex time. This time can be utilized to ask faculty members questions, grab a snack, and get organized. Flex time aids in creating an optimal environment for our students to learn and supports their well-being.

Notre Dame Academy’s acclaimed arts program nurtures our students’ artistic excellence and provides endless opportunities for creative expression.
At NDA, theatre is about opportunity! Because we have a 850 seat auditorium that can transform into a blackbox backstage theatre, we are the only Catholic school in the Toledo area that can stage all our productions in our own theatre. Performance opportunities are available through NDA’s fall musical, spring play, and student-directed one-acts. NDA has also had the honor of being invited to perform at the prestigious Edinburgh Theatre Fringe Festival in Scotland, with successful performances in 2012, 2016, and 2019.
Leadership opportunities abound as student directors and stage managers run the show. IB juniors direct one acts for junior academy and high school students. Stage crew opportunities involve building sets, running lights, sounds, and projections, doing makeup and making costumes. NDA students have followed their dreams in college, and professionally, onstage and as stage managers, light, and sound designers.
NDA artists have won local, state and national awards in 2-D and 3-D mediums as well as art criticism consistently since 2007. In addition to competitions, students may receive recognition by being admitted into the National Arts Honors Society. If you want to pursue advanced studies, you can choose Art 3 Honors and Art 4 Honors or the two year program in IB Visual Arts SL/HL. IB Visual Arts students two year program culminates in a self-curated exhibition of their artwork.
If you love to sing, NDA has three ways you can let your voice ring out:

Have you always wanted to learn to play an instrument? Or do you want to take your skills to a new level? NDA has opportunities for both.
NDA’s Speech and Debate Team is proud to be recognized as a top competitor by the National Speech & Debate Association. For many consecutive years, we have qualified more students for the state competition than any other school in our district, producing both state and national champions. With 10 state champions to our name, NDA has also sent students to the national competition for the past 26 years. Whether you enjoy acting, public speaking, writing, or debating, the NDA Speech and Debate Team would love to have you join us!

Whether or not you come from the Catholic tradition, you’ll find that our theological studies will give students an inner strength and deep spiritual grounding that will root and bless them throughout their lives.
Rooted in the charism of the Sisters of Notre Dame, Campus Ministry at Notre Dame Academy helps students foster a moral compass, a sense of belonging and community, and a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Students can be a part of Campus Ministry in many ways such as liturgies, prayers, service projects, retreats, mission trips, and small groups. Just as sunflowers always turn toward the sun, Eagles are encouraged to continually look to God and keep faith at the center of their lives.
Our students are encouraged to grow as disciples and spiritual leaders of the school through assisting in planning and leading faith-based opportunities such as the Campus Ministry Core Team, the Appalachia Core Team, and the Honors Catholic Leadership Seminar.
All NDA students have the opportunity to worship at Mass monthly and Adoration monthly in their Theology classes and are provided time to receive the Sacrament of Reconciliation during Advent (Fall Semester) and Lent (Spring Semester). As a Junior Academy student, you will have the opportunity in your Theology class to celebrate Mass or pray weekly in the chapel. Our students are encouraged to assist in planning and leading these celebrations as lectors, sacristans, altar servers, liturgical musicians and singers, and Eucharistic Ministers.
Notre Dame Academy's service learning program aims to develop students as socially responsible servant leaders. Students participate in the program all four years, which fosters self-awareness, integrates spirituality into daily life, deepens understanding of Catholic Social Teaching, and builds a strong sense of community. By the end of the first semester of senior year, all students are required to have at least 70 hours of service learning completed.
Through service, students encounter the face of Jesus in those they serve, gaining insights into social issues and pathways to God. These efforts not only benefit the community but also prepare students for a future focused on serving others.
Additionally, NDA’s service projects and trips help those in and outside our local community through Labre, Appalachia Service Trip, and Summer Mission Trips & Projects.
Students attend class-level retreats once per year that provide intentional space and time for students to grow in faith and love of community, self, others, and God.
Retreats are held off campus and lead students on a pilgrimage through their lives to discover who they are as it relates to a particular theme, and through that process, they lean on each other as sisters and discover that they are not alone.
All of our retreats draw strongly from the Catholic tradition and include teachings, prayers, and reflections of the Catholic Church. However, the themes and universal truths discovered on retreat are applicable to all those who attend with an open heart and mind.
Because we know sports teach more than skills, NDA is also the first all-girls school in Ohio to have the SportsLeader program for integrating Catholic virtues into our athletics. SportsLeader focuses on three pillars: Virtue, Ceremony, and Catholic Identity, conveying them through activities, traditions, and events led by players and coaches.

Lindsay Fork ’97 is NDA’s 2026 Professional Achievement award recipient for building a nationally recognized bridal retail company rooted in purpose, innovation, and heart.
After graduating from Xavier University in 2001 with her degree in Entrepreneurship, Lindsay began her career with a deep belief in service and meaningful experiences – values that were nurtured in her at NDA.
In 2008, she purchased La Jeune Mariee, a bridal shop in Columbus, Ohio, planting the seeds of what would become a multi-brand bridal empire.
Lindsay’s entrepreneurial vision expanded in 2011 with the creation of Luxe Redux Bridal as a solution for liquidating her own boutique’s inventory. Word quickly spread among her industry peers seeking the same support, and Lindsay stepped in, acquiring inventory from retailers across the country and building Luxe Redux as both a brick-and-mortar and ecommerce brand.
By 2024, her innovative approach to accessibility in bridal fashion led to a third brand, the Ohio Bridal Outlet, completing a “good, better, best” retail model and uniting all three brands under Luxe Brands, LLC. Luxe Brands is projected to reach 20 locations with more than 100 employees nationwide in 2026.
Lindsay’s leadership has earned significant recognition, including Columbus’ Smart 50 Award and the prestigious Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year Award. Her brands also continuously earn The Knot’s Best of Weddings and Hall of Fame awards – accomplishments made possible through the service and dedication her team members provide to every bride.
Lindsay and her two sisters – Amber ’00, and Stacy ’04 – credit Notre Dame Academy with shaping the foundation of their faith, confidence, and voice as young women. Her NDA experiences instilled a lasting sense of purpose, leadership, and compassion that continue to guide her life and work today.
Lindsay also serves as a certified Functional Medicine Health Coach and enjoys all areas of wellness and personal development. She is married to Kurt Ruen, and they are the proud parents of Ava (17), Anderson (11), and Barrett (8).

Sr. Marya Czech SND ’63 is NDA’s 2026 Service Leadership award recipient for her lifelong dedication to education, environmental justice and advocacy, and grassroots empowerment.
Early in her ministry, Sr. Marya dedicated herself to academic instruction and also led workshops on critical topics such as the environment, global affairs, and public health. Her approach to education reflected the Notre Dame tradition of making learning a transformative experience that serves the common good.
Sr. Marya also distinguished herself as a leading voice on environmental justice issues. Following the 2014 water crisis – when harmful algal blooms in Lake Erie contaminated drinking water for nearly half a million people in northwest Ohio – Sr. Marya emerged as an educator and advocate, helping the community understand the environmental and human factors behind this public health emergency.
“I encourage individuals to get involved within their own communities, becoming more conscious of environmental issues as justice issues that affect livelihood, public health and well-being of marginalized communities,” she shares. “Clean water, clean air, and healthy soil in which to grow food are not unreasonable goals. Christ's great commission involves all of us, including the least among us.”
Sr. Marya's commitment to social justice is also expressed through her work with Toledo’s Junction Coalition, where she collaborates on grant writing and community coalition-building activities.
The Junction Coalition was formed in response to the 2014 water crisis, and has become a model of community-led transformation built on environmental, social, and economic justice and peace education.
Sr. Marya's grant-writing expertise has been instrumental in helping the Junction Coalition access resources that translate directly into improved quality of life for area residents. Her work affirms that serving marginalized communities requires both compassion and the ability to navigate complex funding systems to build coalitions across diverse stakeholders while remaining grounded in the lived experiences of those being served.

Notre Dame Academy, a Catholic college preparatory school for young women, educates in the tradition, vision, and principles of the Sisters of Notre Dame.
We empower students to be intellectually curious, passionately faith-filled, and socially responsible servant leaders.
When Notre Dame Academy first opened its doors in 1904, the Sisters of Notre Dame did so with a mission to educate young women and empower them to be intellectually curious, passionately faith-filled, and socially responsible servant leaders. The mission of the Sisters remains strong and woven into the fabric of today’s NDA.
Our halls tell a story of a sisterhood that spans over 100 years with thousands of young women who – over the course of their four years – become empowered to be bold. To be beautiful. To be brilliant and to be blessed.

Notre Dame Academy is one of a global network of schools sponsored by the Sisters of Notre Dame. The Sisters founded NDA in 1904 to fulfill their Educational Vision:
Impelled by Jesus Christ and his mission and our rich educational heritage, we provide a Catholic-Christian environment of educational excellence for the transformation of individuals and society. We form persons who are skilled and committed to journey together in hope as witnesses and catalysts for the responsible care of all God’s creation and for justice and peace, especially for those on the margins of society.
As one of the schools around the globe sponsored by the Sisters of Notre Dame (SND), Notre Dame Academy was founded to fulfill the educational mission of the Sisters. In particular, NDA empowers young women in grades 7-12 for leadership and service. Notre Dame Academy graduates are:
The intent of this statement is to affirm our commitment as a Catholic school to inclusivity. We welcome all into this Gospel community including but not limited to people of all colors, religions, ethnicities, sexual orientations, economic classes and nationalities. We receive and love all here as God’s children. Accordingly, we will not tolerate discrimination of any kind. We remain vigilant to create an environment of mutual respect, of welcoming hospitality and of genuine warmth in which none is a stranger and in which all may flourish according to God’s plan.

Your gift to Notre Dame Academy allows us to empower young women to be intellectually curious, passionately faith-filled, socially responsible servant leaders. Because of your support, we are able to continue to educate our students in the tradition, vision and principles of the Sisters of Notre Dame, as we have been doing since 1904.
Gifts to The Notre Dame Academy Fund support every aspect of an NDA education. These gifts not only provide critical financial aid to deserving students, but they also ensure that NDA students continue to have access to the best programs, learning environment, facilities, and faculty. Your gift to The NDA Fund is an investment in young women that will provide scholarships and tuition assistance to qualified and deserving students, secure vital equipment for student use, open doors for Christian ministry opportunities, and ensure that the NDA tradition of providing the highest quality education will continue today and in the future.
Each February, Notre Dame Academy hosts its annual fundraiser gala, Mad for Plaid. Proceeds raised from this event support the NDA Fund. The NDA Fund helps to change the lives of current and future students through campus ministry, building improvements, tuition assistance, faculty professional development, and much more! Our annual NDA Hall of Fame recipients are honored at this event.
The Hall of Fame honor is bestowed upon alumnae who have made outstanding contributions professionally or through service, and whose achievements have brought distinction to themselves and have demonstrated a measurable benefit to their communities. Each year, a selection committee consisting of alumnae, teachers, Sisters of Notre Dame, and school leadership come together to designate the inductees for the Hall of Fame.
At Notre Dame Academy, we strive to take care of each student as a whole person, and that includes making sure her physical needs are being met every day. At times, some of our students are unable to afford to purchase lunch and meet their nutritional needs during the school day. Please consider supporting these girls, and our community, by helping them as an NDA Lunch Champion.
Your gift will have an immediate impact on the life of an NDA student.
A gift of $25 can support the nutritional needs of a student for one week.
A gift of $100 can support the nutritional needs of a student for one month.

Excerpt from the NDA Student Statement, Established in 2006 by Student Council
Notre Dame Academy, a Catholic college preparatory school for young women, educates in the tradition, vision, and principles of the Sisters of Notre Dame. We empower students to be intellectually curious, passionately faith-filled, and socially responsible servant leaders.
When Notre Dame Academy first opened its doors in 1904, the Sisters of Notre Dame did so with a mission to educate young women and empower them to be intellectually curious, passionately faith-filled, and socially responsible servant leaders. The mission of the Sisters remains strong and woven into the fabric of today’s NDA.
No. NDA welcomes students of all faith traditions; however, students are expected to take religion classes and attend monthly all-school masses, prayer services, and retreats. We follow the Sisters of Notre Dame’s mission to “proclaim God’s goodness and compassionate love for people of all faiths and cultures.”
At an all-girls school, girls occupy all roles.
Research done by the Goodman Research Group, The Girls’ School Experience: A Survey of Young Alumnae of Single-Sex Schools, states that 93% of girls’ school graduates say they were offered greater leadership opportunities than co-educated peers.
All-girls schools often foster a strong sense of sisterhood and community. This supportive environment can lead to lasting friendships and a strong network of alumnae. Girls in single-sex schools often feel more empowered and confident. They are more likely to speak up in class, participate actively, and take on leadership roles without the social pressures that can be present in co-educational settings.

Notre Dame Academy is currently conducting a search for its next President. The Notre Dame Academy Board of Trustees has appointed a Search Committee to identify and evaluate the strongest candidates, with the goal of recommending the most qualified individuals to the Sisters of Notre Dame and NDA’s Board of Trustees.
Anticipated start date of the new President: July 2027
Recently, our search partner, Partners in Mission, introduced a strong slate of candidates for the Search Committee to consider for the role of President at Notre Dame Academy.
The Search Committee thoughtfully reviewed and discerned the candidates presented, and determined that three highly qualified leaders will advance in the process. During the coming weeks, these semi-finalists will meet confidentially with the Search Committee. Following those interviews, the Committee will determine which candidates will advance as finalists.
The finalists, and spouses if applicable, then will have the opportunity to visit Notre Dame Academy for individual, comprehensive campus visits, during which they will engage with groups of constituents from the NDA community. Following the final campus visit, the Search Committee will reconvene to review information gathered throughout the process, including feedback from members of our community who had the opportunity to meet the finalists. At the conclusion of this process, the Search Committee will present its recommendations to the Notre Dame Academy Board of Trustees and the Sisters of Notre Dame.
We continue to move forward in a timely yet deliberate manner, with the goal of appointing the most qualified and mission-aligned candidate by the end of 2026. The next President will begin serving the Notre Dame Academy community on July 1, 2027.
On behalf of the Search Committee, thank you for your interest and support throughout this important process. Please continue to keep the search and all those involved in your prayers as we work toward a successful conclusion.
Sincerely,
Jenny (Conrad) Swope ’83
