Erin Dixon Vogel ’95 has reached a point in her career where her purpose has become asking the question: “How do I help others get what they want?”
Following more than 20 years working in real estate development, Erin shifted to “angel investing” and today serves as a managing director of Golden Seeds, an investment group that seeks out and invests in companies that are women-owned or have women executives. “Picture Shark Tank but all the presenting companies are women-owned and led,” explains Erin. “My passion is supporting women entrepreneurs and woman-led businesses.”
As a servant leader, Erin recalls being taught about collaboration and integrity at NDA.
“It’s so important, as a leader, to make sure your words and actions match up. NDA instilled that integrity at every turn – through classwork, athletics, and faith,” she recalls.
“We were always taught to support the girls around us, beyond our close friends. As Maya Angelou said, ‘Each time a woman stands up for herself, without knowing it, possibly without claiming it, she stands up for all women.’”
Erin believes young women must be formed as leaders from a young age, as it can be challenging to break out of traditional roles during their career. “All too often, women get caught shouldering the work and don’t get to spend as much time making the impactful decisions,” she shares.
“It is one thing to have a seat at the table, but it’s another thing entirely to have a voice. Be sure to develop that voice – and to use it. NDA gives young women the foundation to develop that voice.”
